What symptoms will occur if the Engine Timing Sprocket is damaged or fails?

When the Engine Timing Sprocket (engine timing sprocket or timing gear) is damaged or fails, vehicle performance and reliability can be severely affected. The failure of such critical components often does not occur suddenly, but is accompanied by a series of symptoms that gradually appear.

Difficulty starting the engine:
Damage to the timing sprocket or gear can cause the engine to experience difficulty starting. Due to the disorder of the timing system, the movement of the valve and piston may not be synchronized, making it impossible for the engine to enter the working cycle smoothly. Drivers may find that starting the vehicle takes multiple attempts, or that the engine stalls immediately after starting.

Unstable idle speed:
